My family has chosen fear over freedom. Now we're stuck with nothing to do and nowhere to go for Christmas.
Any ideas for freedom loving places to visit for the weekend?

Do you have any like-minded friends that would want to get together? Perhaps their families are being sheep also and they would love to have Christmas with you?
Plan to make Christmas wonderful with just your household (not sure if it's you and a SO, or if you have kids)
Plan to make a nice Christmas dinner, exchange gifts, play games, watch Christmas movies. Spend time together as a family/couple.
Find a church to attend either in person or online (Not sure where you live or what is an option for you). Many churches do Christmas Eve services that are a lot of fun. We sing Christmas songs, light candles, pray and celebrate together. It's awesome. It is always beautiful and very enjoyable.
If traveling/spending $ is an option, you could always try find a nice cabin in the middle of nowhere. Maybe somewhere snowy. As someone from Texas, snow is a novelty that is so much fun. Sledding, snowball fights, building snowmen. Lots of those cabins have hot tubs. Depending on if it's a family thing or a couple thing, it could be a romantic Christmas getaway or a fun family getaway. If snow isn't your thing, there are cabins down south, too. Oklahoma has some nice ones near Broken Bow. Lots of hiking, fishing, etc.
I hope this helps!
This is such a huge help. I'm feeling less sad about it. My SO and I are trying to come up with some way to celebrate that is more along these lines.
Hadn't thought about other friends that may be in a similar situation. We will have to start asking around.
Thank you and Merry Christmas! 🙏
Merry Christmas to you, too! I hope y'all can find a wonderful way to celebrate. <3
