I'm a English Canadian myself who lives in the greater Montreal area. Honestly, lots of people around here are conformers, especially in the higher education system, that Im a part of. Everyone has the same opinion in the city, and people who oppose anything the Marxist teachers propose, you're either a) outnumbered 10 to 1, b) or think what you say is idiotic or c) find any excuse to bring trump into a conversation. It's quite ridiculous. That's the English Montrealers, the french Montrealers, it's all that, put on top the fact that most of them can't actually read or understand English, so their view of the USA is misinformed to the nth degree, plus all that Quebec seperatist bs. Can't wait to get my basically free degree and get the fuck out of this hell hole

No no no, I don't take offence, I agree! It's sad to see how it has become, coming from a family that immigrated from Italy and hard work is a family value. Values in this society don't exist, or are a zombie of it's formal self.

To be honest, even my east coast friends and family think that way about Quebecers. They're their own unique culture, they're right about that, but I am not sure if it is much to be proud of a lot of the time. Between the unwarranted snobbery, the undeserved sentiments of cultural superiority, and forcing "two official languages" bullshit on the rest of us, QC has taken far more from Canada than it will ever give back.

Damn, I pay my respects dude, you're behind enemy lines. If Canada is conformist, Montreal is Orwellian. The professors in QC and east coast universities are such charlatans, they're not intellectuals at all. All they care about is postmodernism, Foucault and Derrida, and lazy "theories" that rationalize self indulgence and degeneracy. QC is basically a socialist nation living on the coerced patronage of the rest of Canada. I gather that Montreal and QC City are beautiful architecturally, but I don't think I will ever visit.

Id say Quebec city is 10x more beautiful, for the history and centre is smaller and more eventful. Montreal is nice aswell, but is 10x larger and harder to get around. It's worth a visit, but don't be surprised when people treat you different for the soul reason that you speak English and cannotnspeaknfrench
