Expect...
Police road checkpoints with at least one SWAT team at each one. They may call in outside agencies for mutual assistance. They now know people will be armed at this event and like us, they have many weeks to prepare.
Expect them to use some "emergency" ordinance or judge's order to bypass the 4th Amendment to get around searching vehicles and persons. Remember, they don't care about the constitution any more.
Expect groups of 10+ kitted-up groups of cops roving through crowds. A tactic of police in crowd control is to use muggers. They will move in and seize armed individuals and small groups. They will do this to discourage more armed citizens from showing up or taking any action. More importantly, they'll want to discourage us from even showing up with our guns.
90% of police crowd control has to do with a "show of force" in order to be successful. They use police lines with big cops in riot gear. They march in cadence and in unison to look intimidating. It's about creating phycological fear and intimidation, and has been studied and perfected for decades.
How do we counter this?
Cover up and remain anonymous. Antifa tactics.
If armed, you will need to be in a VERY large group of probably 50+. When challenged and stopped, you can either stand your ground or use Zebra tactics. Swarm around them and bolt through their perimeter. The Zebra has those stripes and when they start moving in large numbers, it makes it very difficult for the lions to zero in on one. A few may be picked off, but the rest will go through.
While in a large group, stay in tight formation with large numbers. Don't allow them to break up and separate the armed folks from the others. Remember, they use muggers and small unit tactics to do this.
Finally, it'll take some bold action to overcome this. The police aren't going to fire on anyone unless they have cause. To do so would be a disaster for them because other armed patriots will be coming after them in mass over the coming days. The optics would also be awful for them.
I think both are good. Your method is certainly what I would do personally. I was just thinking about all those open carry fellas showing up in force, optics.
But yeah, your covert clusters of armed groups is some real opsec.
This is mostly about open carry groups. Our guys in groups of 10 or less are bound to get challenged and snatched up by these SWAT teams. Those checkpoints will also have a Bearcat armored vehicle and maybe 10-15 uniformed support officers along with it if the DC police reach out for mutual aid.
I think the best tactic to deal with them is to scatter, swarm and regroup quickly. It'll break up their perimeters while also making it possible for others to come through unimpeded.
