with honest journalism again

No such thing. Sometimes they have been more honest than others, but that's just by coincidence of motivations and depended on whatever the current political climate was. Until the 1900's news peddlers generally had a reputation for dishonestly and gossip. People tended to like a particular local paper, but just because something was printed didn't mean they believed it 100%.

The problem isn't just a lack of honesty, but the fact that a small number of news corporations - even those with foreign influence - control the narrative for our entire country, and that the public is somehow spellbound by them and thinks they're giving them an accurate picture of the world. That's scary.

The spellbound part is incredible. It’s literally like North Korea these days. Zombie-eyed NPCs believing they have moral high ground while having literally no clue what is going on.

They're responsible for who they decide to follow.

Also, Jake Tapper's wife once enthused that their FAVORITE restaurant in DC is Comet Ping Pong. What. The. Hell. They're part of the REALLY bad stuff.

No, not Jake Tapperman. I would never suspect a tribe member of being involved in such things.

While what you say is true it's also true that most people have some ability to critically evaluate information and a human need for accurate information.

There are still people interested in producing honest objective journalism. Some of them, like former CBS news anchor Sharyl Attkisson, have begun to turn their reporting on their former employers and expose the rot. Her book "Slanted" describes how the sausage is made in great detail. It's a great read.

At some point, the reported fantasy becomes too frequent and too wild to digest for the majority. That is how I wound up here 6 years ago. I used to be a huge fan of PSB radio. Over time, their reporting got more and more extreme. This led me to start questioning not only PBS but all sources of news and information. When Trump came on the political scene in 2016 his direct manner of pointing out fake news accelerated the process of red pilling the masses. In a rather short period of time more and more mainstream politicians have gained some courage in taking on these fake news corporations directly eg; Ted Cruz, Matt Gaetz, Josh Hawley - The list is growing.

Trump tore the lid off by taking on these propagandists directly in front of the whole world. The genie won't fit back in her bottle for hundreds of millions of people.

Fake news by its very nature requires supporting current lies with new lies and while there is no limit to the number and type of lies there is a limit to how far the human mind is willing to go to believe in fantasy. It's not sustainable.

Take heart. We are winning this war even when, in the heat of battle, we temporarily appear to be losing. Millions of us are now battle-hardened and immune to the strategies of the enemy. We grow stronger day by day.

No I agree with that. Sharyl Attkisson is great. I think if we could somehow break up Big Media, and there was a more diverse range of voices, and people didn't blindly follow whatever is reported, there would be more competition and a market for investigative journalism and honest reporting. The bad news would still be there, but better news would rise to the surface.

80's and 90's you had very light propaganda, but even CNN was maybe left leaning, but it was still news. NOW, it is straight bold face lying. You turn on one channel, and it is precisely the opposite of what someone on newsmax might say, its insane.

Ironically CNN had a brief period of straight unbiased reporting in the 2000's IMO, right after FOX News became top dog. CNN tried to move to the center and be the standard-bearer for objective reporting and a counter-weight to the infotainment "right-wing" FNC. They went off a progressive cliff in 2015, but normies still think they're in the middle.

That honesty-dishonesty cycle will continue to repeat in media as long as we in the public keep turning our critical thinking skills over to them and believing whatever comes through the TV.

One of the last times we saw honest reporting is when that did said "Fuck it, we're doing it live".
