I want to come up, but I do NOT want to bring my car into the city itself, unless I can find a safe place to park it. Plus, funds are a little tight, and I'm real iffy about getting a hotel room. I'd like to find somewhere on the outskirts, maybe some local pede has a little extra room in their garage I can leave my car, and then I could find some other way to get downtown. Any suggestions?

You can park at any metro station with a lot and take the metro in. If you park in Virginia along the blue/yellow/orange lines, there are multiple walking/bike trails that lead into the city if the mayor closes down the metro. Not too sure about the Maryland side in terms of alternate access to metro. A lot of hotels will offer shuttle service to the metro or airport as well, you’ll just need to call ahead to check what the COVID restrictions are.
Well, I was planning on staying for an extra day or two if needed. Would a person be able to leave their vehicle in a metro for multiple days?
Yes, although I’d recommend somewhere with an actual garage rather than an open lot for added security.
Yeah, that's what I'm hoping. Some generous local patriot lets me stash my car in their side yard or something lol. Thanks for the info.
