Wouldn’t black spray paint be more effective... and I wouldn’t punch them... I would just take off their helmets and face masks. Then all the cameras can identify them. That’s more problematic for them than getting beat up.

The spray paint works just fine on googles & cameras. That was one of my tactics when riot training in the army & prison service.
If you capture one tell them they can leave freely if they give you a shoe. Takes them out of the fight and very humiliating.

So yeah, take their masks off, take their shoes, take their coats and bags. When they realise they are "naked" and vulnerable. they'll mentally resort to their weak lonely attitude, feeling ashamed, embarrassed.
Yes, Australian Army & Qld Corrective Services train as real as possible. Numerous participants get injured every course. Luckily we had free healthcare.
