My parents, grandparents, aunt's, and uncles all immigrated from Poland in 1967. I was born in 1969. Was deployed to desert for Gulf War.

I remember thinking that if I died out there it wouldn't have been a waste because it was payment for my family's freedom. That my heritage was released from captivity of communism and was prospering in the United States of America.

I didn't know about this quote back then when I was 20. But I was thinking the same thing.
