Yep, no pensions either. Then when the 12 years is up you’re just like any average Joe. This would provide an incentive for them to not completely fuck up the country for everyone else.
The fix is relatively easy. It’s not bulletproof, but it definitely makes a whole lot harder for politicians to go bad:
Groups, organizations, associations, foundations, etc. cannot donate to politicians or political parties or to the family members of politicians or anything like that. Only people can (specifically American citizens; foreign entities not allowed). You represent the People, not the organizations and lobbying groups that take advantage of generating a lot of money. Net worth and tax returns will be made public, as will that of their family members. This is to ensure no underhanded fuckery is going on. Donations made to politicians are non-tax deductible (to dissuade corrupt people from being able to donate as much every year). Politicians cannot create or be apart of organizations that can be donated to and their largest donators/contributors will be made public knowledge/more easily accessible.

It almost seems like we need a freeze on their assets or some kind of block so they can't accept money into their bank account from external sources.
Sure you could get bribed with a few hundred thousand but millions? Nope.

That would make too much sense though.
