Trump's style is to listen to opposing sides battle and then make up his own mind.

By having some staffers who say concede (which to me seems somewhat implausible) he can best assess the arguments the Left would be making and then block them most effectively.

In the study of presidential decision making, that’s an identified management model called “competitive”. Most agree Trump is the first user of the style since FDR, interestingly enough.

14
Bonami 14 points ago +15 / -1

Interesting, it would lead you to consider if the rest of them, with the possible temporary exception of Eisenhower were just, "following orders."

6
trumpforeverandever 6 points ago +6 / -0

That's interesting. Any places to read deeper about this stuff?

11
ConfiscateTheCoats 11 points ago +11 / -0

https://omnilogos.com/competition-conflict-and-conformity-foreign-policy-making-in-first-year-of-trump-presidency/

Definitely some TDS at play there shading his conclusions, but that’s a decent walkthrough. Trump let’s the camps duke it out and lets that inform his final decisions. But, of course, he also is one to want to keep promises. Go figure that the academics can’t quite wrap their gear around that part, preferring to cast it as “self interest” lol

The big take away on team.of rivals was how in the end he won over all the opposition. Goodwin did well on that book.

5

This sounds like wishful thinking. I don't want any consneeders if the room. This must be what Gen Flynn was talking about yesterday about Trump needing to "shore up" the people in the white house. I fucking hate people like this more than I hate the marxist.

6
RussianAgent13 6 points ago +6 / -0

I'm with you. I love hearing opposing viewpoints and debating which action to take, but anyone who says "yes Mr. President it looks like you got cheated, and Biden is compromised by China, but we've exhausted all legal options and you just need to concede for the good of the country but we'll get 'em in 2024!" is a special kind of stupid. Or a traitor.

Sad to think a bunch of Grima Wormtongues are around him :(

(Gríma Wormtongue was the chief advisor to King Théoden of Rohan before being exposed as an agent and spy of Saruman).

Hate to hear he's keeping "concede" people for advisors..

He needs people whispering in his ear hourly, "Imagine what they'll do to this Nation if we allow this corruption to pass" "Imagine what they'll do to you and your family if you don't destroy the threat now" "Mr. President everyone is depending on you"

Well if he has a plan that he's revealed to no-one except maybe Melania and Pence, this serves him as it tells him who to kick out when the time comes. For now they're digging their own graves.

12
jpower 12 points ago +12 / -0

Ya I don't see this as being such a negative thing having shitty advisers. After all, I know he doesn't have all shitty advisers.

I've never heard of advisers convincing him to somehow go against his opinions before either. That's all they are - "advisers".

They're probably good for CNN leaks too - let them mislead the media into thinking Trump has no more options.

I've been thinking about Fauci's usefulness in light of this ... since he's ALWAYS wrong, just do the opposite of what he says.

Ah, the power of diversity ....

:)

6
Thwok 6 points ago +6 / -0

Lol ... the idea of explaining Fauci as a diversity hire next administration... "well, we hired a whole bunch of smart people who are typically right ... soooooo, we needed a complete corrupt dumbass who's always wrong to be the benchmark ...."

I bet GEOTUS has been doing this for years (nah, decades).

7
Prussian_Pepe 7 points ago +7 / -0

Fauci has been in the CDC for over 30+ years, he's the one who fucked up and murdered everyone during the AIDS pandemic. Trump didn't hire that thing...

Trump is not going to concede. You don't call people to DC on the 6th for a "Welcome the new President people. We had a good run". These barbarians are going to kill him and his family over time if he concedes. He knows it, they know it, we know it.

He's going to kill them first and that's the way it is.

33
Behind_Blue_Lines_II 33 points ago +33 / -0

this is a good point. people get too hung up on doomer propaganda and rush to blame advisors telling him the wrong things.. Trumps advisors are just that, opinion people. Trump likes to hear as many angles as possible but the fact remains, NOBODY makes up Trumps mind but Donald J Trump.

13
KimJung-Un 13 points ago +13 / -0

I would also have the snakes around me. Having them around is a good way to see what the DS is trying to do to fuck with you.

Not the WH but a Trump Hotel room.

34
FTR22 34 points ago +35 / -1

I am sure that Patrick's perception is his reality. I am not so sure that he is wrong. The other people in the room including Trump's advisors have differing motivations and that is where Trump will take control at a certain point and make the decision just like he did when he put the travel bans into effect with the virus. This is just about 1000X more important than that decision.

15
spezisacuckold 15 points ago +16 / -1

His decision very likely will be the most important in all of humanity since Christ. No pressure!

I do not believe that this is a good leak, in that, I do not believe that this information is perfectly accurate for strategic purposes. If you were to have a plan against an opponent, then having them think you have internal problems would be to your advantage.

Look, I will repeat what I have said, don't speculate too hard on this stuff, what happens happens and you have been ordered to prepare for 1.6.20

15
Dereliction 15 points ago +15 / -0

Definitely, appear weak when you are strong.

14

1
tdwinner2020 1 point ago +1 / -0

Oh yeah, I'm afraid Trump is being misled by many. Everything depends on Miller/Cohen/Tata/Ratcliffe - if they're not on board, then the only thing Trump would have is calling out the militia, but if it's just the militia and him, it's going to be dicey. We need some help from DNI/DOD. They have to drop what they have, and they have to mobilize a few troops.

All of Patrick Brynes twitter comments about this meeting are REALLY worth checking out IMO. Good glimpse of what was happening. Despite the fact that the meeting was just with these ABSOLUTE SWAMP CREATURES and Trump, Bryne walked away thinking trump's chances are 50 - 75%.

Why would Patrick Byrne be in that meeting? He was bounced out of Overstock for being a loose cannon. I find it hard to believe Team Trump would tolerate this kind of behavior.

17
bubbadubs [S] 17 points ago +18 / -1

He has been working closely with Sydney and Flynn.

And FYI he wasn’t “bounced” out of Overstock, he left.

Patrick Byrne is credible.

-4
Mrs_Fonebone -4 points ago +5 / -9

He resigned because of pressure. No one, and I mean no one, in the Trump Team would behave like this. Who is he calling out? And phrases like "mendacious mediocrities" -- Trump is "surrounded" by them--that's a lot. Who are they, then?

8
bubbadubs [S] 8 points ago +9 / -1

“... Meadows + Lawyers Eric, Derek, GC Pat Cippollone (leaker).”

https://twitter.com/patrickbyrne/status/1340749371411935236?s=21

Also, he resigned because he didn’t want his company to be subject to an IRS investigation.

0
Mrs_Fonebone 0 points ago +8 / -8

No, it was all this: https://www.forbes.com/sites/laurendebter/2019/08/22/the-exclusive-inside-story-of-the-fall-of-overstocks-mad-king-patrick-byrne/

I know there may be a bias from the left toward him, but this guy makes Musk look a bit dull.

It's just very bad form to do what he did with this tweet--air dirty laundry or laundry he thinks is dirty.

8
bubbadubs [S] 8 points ago +10 / -2

He’s clearly on our team, and trying to help get something done about this. He’s calling out the people giving the President bad advice.

2
Mrs_Fonebone 2 points ago +8 / -6

OK, why not just tell the President? Trump's way is not to warn spies and leakers--let them think they're ok until the hammer drops.

7
trumpisQ 7 points ago +8 / -1
