I don't recommend startpage. It just uses Google's search engine and thus any results that Google wants to censor and not show will also be shown on startpage.
Never heard of Startpage, and if what you say is true then it sounds pointless. But one thing I'll say is that it's a great name. Duckduckgo will never be seen as a mainstream thing because its name is fucking stupid. I know that's a dumb reason but these things matter, and it will always be seen as frivolous because of it. They should just change the name.

I use qwant, but find their searches to not be as relevant. Maybe because they are France based.
