If an ambu bag and mask is available it is way better to use vs mouth to mouth, regardless of coronavirus. Better seal over the mouth and you can look at chest rise and fall to see if the breaths you’re giving is effective.

Passenger almost certainly would have died anyway. CPR has extremely low effectiveness.

EMT here. We don't give mouth-to-mouth. Bag valve mask is much more effective. If CPR is required, the patient's chances of survival are somewhere around 40% anyway.

And that's survival with a diminished quality of life for most of those.

Because CPR is so ineffective, there is really no "wrong" way to do it, as long as you do something. About 5% of the people who undergo CPR go on to live a normal life.
