Anything centralized and owned by a company is not safe. They can be pressured. Imagine if the same thing were to happen right before the rally. We need a better option.

Why Matrix?
It’s open source. It isn’t controlled by a single company that can be pressured by alphabet agencies or foreign countries.
It’s distributed. There isn’t a single point of failure.
Do it old school. Back a few years ago we used something called IRC, and I was on there for years... Then everything went centralized with discord, slack, reddit, facebook, twitter, etc.
It may be time to go back to IRC. At the very least, I wish people would learn to use it, it's not really much harder than discord. You can even run your own server if necessary.
I’ve been on irc since forever too. But it isn’t persistent like discord. If you aren’t online you don’t receive the message, no good cellphone clients. And if you run your own server prepare to get ddos’d. I’d consider it but I’m not sold on it.
