I put out something like this last night but I'm not quite as familiar with DC area law enforcement. But I do expect them to be calling for mutual assistance. They will also have several weeks to plan and prepare. And it's quite clear based on just the posts and comments here on TDW that there will be armed people showing up and they now know this.
That is something they've never had to really plan for. Most protests there don't involve armed citizens. I expect they will be massively escalating their reaction and defensive positions for this. I also mentioned that they may get some kind of ordinance or judge's order to bypass the 4th Amendment which would allow them to randomly search vehicles and persons at will.
But no matter what they do, if there are thousands of committed armed patriots, there will be little they can do about it. They will not fire on people without good cause because it would be a powder keg response by our side. The optics would also be horrific for them. It would be the one thing that'll trigger a civil war and they have to know that. Whether they care or not, only the future can say.
Don't forget the US Park Police, they have their own chopper and cops on horseback. Some of them are great at being tough when necessary, although I have encountered a few lazy dumb pricks among their ranks before. The Capitol Police I've all personally encountered have been really cool, and yes, quite professional and protection oriented.
