plenty of people selling shotguns and bolt actions and usually a few semi rifles that aren't double price (most of the ARs in my area are double or triple priced at this point, but not all of them)

Plinking: Get a Ruger 10/22 and a $100 scope.
Personal carry: Sig Sauer P365XL 9mm
Home defense pistol: Sig P320 M18 9mm
Home defense long gun: 12-Gauge pump from Mossberg or Remington
Hunting/Target: Remington 700 in 308 or 6.5 Creed with a $150 scope
Lever Action yee haw cowboy shooting bears: Marlin in 45-70
I have a Sig P365XL - highly recommended as CC. Mossberg 500 12 gauge. Indestructible, inexpensive, accurate. An 12 ga shells are still plentiful.

Great choices

Zip guns are cheap :)
First thing you should consider is what ammo is available still, unless your gonna hand load.
