I don't know. Why is it so important for them to make others see them and approve of them? Can't they just do it privately in a room or something? No one thinks defaecation needs to be prohibited but no one wants to see people doing it in public.

It has to do with them knowing what they are doing is disgusting and wrong. So they seek affirmation so they feel what they are doing is ok.
