I'm no medical expert but blueness usually means its not fresh, sort of like a bruise but there is something else that happens mainly with elderly.
My concern would not be immediate urgent medical attention if you've disinfected/stopped bleeding and keeping an eye on him should be right til he sobers up.. but definitely have a chat when he's sober to figure what/how it happened.. depending on how forth coming he is it could be not much and just embarrassing or could be something you'll wanna take him to the doctor to get checked out for.
Again i aint a medical expert but sounds more like this was an existing injury and not ambulance urgent but also not something id ignore if you care about him. Drag him to a doctor if you have to :)
well he has blue on his hands i asked him about it...... told me its cuz hes old and lets the dog in and out a lot , that requires two doors at his house.. so old people bruise easily i guess? what happenned was he was in a little office type chair with the wheels. got too drunk..... and i just heard the chair i didnt even hear him fall or anything to be frank.. but i knew the old geezer wasnt skateboarding in an office chair so i went in to check on it and saw him on the ground... he pretty much passed out and fell out the chair from what it looked like. not sure how he got a gash on his elbow but at his age thats pretty hard to nail down . he did have some humor but was super embarassed tho. so i knew he was cognitively alert. but im still here waiting and watching making sure everything okay. hes had several heart attacks, but not in the last ten years, got stints and none since. so i know his situation is................ pretty fragile.
Yeah my concern would not be the gash/injury itself, its more about whether there is something else going on.. i dunno wanna plant bad thoughts cause again.. im no medical expert and it could be really nothing to worry about.. but in the same breath possobly not something to ignore.
For just one hypothetical example if he himself doesnt remember, and you dont think he's lying or happened on the night, this may be a sign that it occurred from say having an episode or passing out.
Long story short, if he cant adequately explain how it occurred to you, i strongly suggest a visit to a doctor.. a doctor would very quickly sus out whether its nothing or something.. at the very least for your peace of mind, at worst the sooner a medical issue is detected the better the outcome will likely be.
this morning he asked if he got too drunk and what happenned last night. but when it happened before pickin hi up i just sat and talked to him to make sure it wasnt a stroke or something. he already visits the doc. slight memory issues, but not too out of the ordinary for his age, and a family history of alzheimers, family will be keeping a close eye on him through the hollidays but he seems to be in good jackass spirits today
If he already visits dr regularly ya all good then! From the sounds of ya oringinal post it sounded like he was more isolated/alone than it might actually be.
Prolly just a drunken mishap..
If he got blackout drunk though you need to regulate the booze in future or buy lights or sneak in some non-alcohol or something.. just cause ya have to buy a 6 pack dont mean ya gotta drink all 6
Do you know when he cut himself?
