one thing is for certain, do not let family make fun of your dad for getting drunk and falling. As funny as it may seem at the time, it might make him feel even more shame then continue to feel embarrassed (as it sounds like he already is embarrassed) or conceal every time they drink especially if they live alone or with just their spouse. Fuck, if I go out and get plastered and sing karaoke all crazy I feel embarrassed for weeks (even though it was fun as fuck at the time).
