Having been a former H1B guy myself, I have thought about this a lot. Hate to say it, but contrary to the conventional wisdom (legal immigration is good, illegal immigration bad) I think legal immigration can be bad as well, depending on conditions.
60s, 70s, 80 - there were millions of legal immigrants, mostly outstanding in their field, smart, experts, living the American dream. But where did they all settle? Always in big cities. Cities that have now become the "blue cities". And these elites are the ones at the higher levels of science, technology - the ones selling us down the river with covid, and BLM and great reset and what not.
What happen is that, when they came to this country they never fully assimilated. They still came with the same "anti-colonial" mindset. This sits simmering inside for years, and takes on the form of superiority complex when compared to the locals.
These are the people who keep voting in democratic, and embrace the wokeness or BLM or whatever else new fad that has to do with anti-American, without actually saying it as such. These are the people who give somuch power to the democratic machine, the pwoer of widespread corruption we are seeing so clearly now, that it paves the way to bringin the illegals and terrorists en-masse.
I think legal immigration cannot be avoided, but great care must be taken to assimilate and ensure the people coming in dont hold grudges.
Ironic since what you're describing is a new wave of colonization of this land.
