Dinosaurs lived millions of years ago, so it is not like researching some sort of wild animal in Africa. We have to use indirect, incomplete pieces of evidence and figure out things like solving puzzles. DNA sequencing was not available a hundred years ago, and more fossil evidence have been discovered since then, so our theories could have changed, but the chances of our theories' being wrong is getting smaller and smaller.
