I have been saying this for months. There never was any pandemic or covid19. chyna found a way to hyperpoliticize an offshoot of the common cold or flu strain and threw it like an economical hand grenade at the leader of the free world.
As to your advice, I have a little anecdote for that.
I was just refused service because I didn't have on a mask. Not 30 minutes ago.
Called the manager, made a stink in store, didn't get my product. Talked to them like they were people and: "We just want to keep our job. I have kids."
Valid. What can you say? Fuck your kids? Told them I would never shop there anymore and the nonchalant "do what you gotta do" response with the undertone of (my company makes billions. whatever, jack) was about as much a slap in the face as being asked to wear a mask.
I would have been in and out in literally 60 seconds (needed 1 thing). Instead I spent 4 minutes arguing inside the store without a mask, spewing my nasty covid breath everywhere, endangering the other patrons.
I told them when I called: "They aren't paying you guys enough to be little tyrants up there. I work in a similar field and I don't presume to tell patrons how to live their lives or what risks they should and shouldn't be taking. I mirror whatever the person opposite me is doing whenever I'm working. If they have a mask, I'll wear one out of respect. Otherwise, people's business is their business."
Felt like I got through maybe a little, at least reached the actual person underneath the corporation. But with how good people are at faking it these days, who knows.
