Apparently loose lips don't sink ships anymore. The person leaking this should be hung for treason and those spreading it arrested as accomplices to national security information leaks
"The nuclear-power Ohio-class guided-missile submarine USS Georgia (SSGN 729), along with the guided-missile cruisers USS Port Royal (CG 73) and USS Philippine Sea (CG 58), transited the Strait of Hormuz entering the Arabian Gulf, Dec. 21," the Navy said in a statement using an alternative name for the Persian Gulf.
Operational Security (OPSEC) is the process that identifies critical information, outlines potential threats and risks, and develops counter measures to safeguard critical information. It’s best to keep in mind the less details the better in regards to what you share. Also remember that despite knowing the information it should ONLY ever be discussed PRIVATELY and IN PERSON. Try to remember that is it a privilege to be given any information regarding ship movements not a right.
What Should I Not Communicate?
To ensure sensitive information is not compromised, do not communicate the following:
Deployment timelines and areas
The location of families during deployment
Planned return date, homecomings or countdowns
Any special pre-deployment training or underways

Why is that public knowledge?
OpSec!!!
It shouldn’t be, but if the Navy released it then I suspect there is a very god reason.

For all those asking about OPSEC. IT was an official press release supposedly.
Basicly from what I'm getting its a message to tell Iran to simmer down or get blown off the map.
Don't we always have a strike group in the region just like we always have them on both of our coasts when they aren't on specific missions?
Wish we had a Navy pede here who can explain how this info becomes common knowledge.

Could it be leaked on purpose as a misdirect?
As a retired submariner OpSec is paramount. Please do not post movements of our submarines. Let's keep our sailors safe.
