As a Brit peer, I have to agree - so many people are afraid of freedom and are so willing to surrender their rights it really is pathetic. Which is why I wish I was an American citizen - you guys stand firm for your rights whatever may happen.
So much of the polling is wildly unrepresentative though, especially with somewhere like YouGov, who only poll registered members of their site. Its no wonder different polls from 'credible' sources are having contradictory outcomes...
I always ask, how long are you going to pjt up with it? You know it wont stop right, its a disease now but it will be some made up excuse in a year or two.
My wife's cousin, who is left wing (but not a radical) is totally bamboozled by the whole situation.
Apparently she even joked and admitted that they would possibly have less freedom next year! wtf?! It isn't even remotely funny.
She even acknowledged that the numbers 'didn't add up' when my wife was red-pilling her, but then went straight back to being happy that she is a prisoner in her own home, because apparently that's 'safe'.
I'm so proud of my wife's relations*. When my wife called to ask them if they were still happy for us to come over after xmas they said 'Fuck the rules, of course you should come over'.
I've not always been their biggest fan, but they now have my respect.

Neither ordinary people nor elected officials got a say in this. They waited until MPs went on Christmas break then introduced the new measures without any debate in Parliament, breaking the agreement in the Covid emergency bill. Members of the party aren't even allowed to criticise the lockdown measures within the Party's official channels.
No impact assessment, no accountability from any elected official. The "opposition" party won't even turn up on occasions where we do get a vote.
