The religious have been pushing the end times quite hard and not doing so responsibly either.

Every time the world faces some form of adversity, people start ACTUALLY dooming and making connections to the biblical end times.

The world has lived as long as it has, some more adversity is not going to be the end times even if things seem hopeless. My cousin was tortured with that stuff as a kid and his anxiety this year is overwhelming for him.

I'm not a Christian, but I've studied scripture. The Bible says that no man shall know the hour of the day of the end times. It also says that Christians should live with hope and joy for the love of Christ within them. In no way does the Bible say that people should cower in fear. It certainly doesn't encourage anyone to "accelerate" the end times by starting a war with Iran or anyone else, but rather encourages Christians to love thy neighbor.

gratz, you've won a free theology lesson:

the eschatological (end times theology) view you are referring to is called Premillenialism. It's a cuck view created by dispensationalists in the 1800s. Dispensationalism is a view that the bible is totally literal with no nuance, it is also from the 1800s. They both have roots in the sufferage and prohibition movement. Premillenialism is probably best known by the fiction series "Left Behind". It is probably the dominate view in the USA, but beyond the USA it is a minority view and is also a minority view historically. it's been used extensively by politicians and politically-inclined pastors to drum up fear and money.

the other main views are postmillennialism, which believes that the world will get better and better until Christ returns and amillennialism, which believes that the Millenium is now and that Christ already returned in 70 AD when the Temple was destroyed.

Only in dispensationalism does modern day Israel have a purpose. Dispensationalism is particularly disgusting because it basically gives modern day Jews an out, so that they do not have to be evangelized to.

Wow. No clue how brainwashed American Christians were. The Bible says, "preach the gospel to every living creature."

What's the difference between amillenialism and preterism?

It's the evangelical type that don't see the greater picture, but spend all their time preaching all about the end times.

It's sad, and it's not the type of thing that kids should perpetually be exposed to like my cousin was

That's exactly right. Totally sick of people twisting the Bible to justify wars in the Middle East or trying to make Armageddon happen rather than fixing the world because "Muh Bible says the earth is wicked..."

Catholic here. We are taught, “you won’t know the day, nor hour.” Just live your life and do what you’re supposed to do. I don’t pay attention to all the prophecy stuff.

Our enemies totally exploit these religious ideas. I see it online and on TV every single day how people's fears and hopes about religion are exploited. You would think that decade after decade of seeing political events play out and Jesus doesn't arrive out of the clouds with flaming sword drawn, people would stop knee-jerking "It's the second coming!" but no ... The reason? They WANT the Apocalypse. They are so miserable or scared or dissatisfied with the evil crap on earth they want a world disaster and then to be rescued by a supernatural being. So it's mainly wishful thinking. Every religious group has prophecies that they try to assign to every world event, year after year, century after century. I'm not saying prophecies are all false. But It's tiring to watch this religious escapism and it keeps people from doing real practical and useful things to fix some of these problems. The Deep State exploits it, particularly with the endless wars for Israel's benefit. And don't think some of these TV preachers aren't PAID to spout the more political elements of their sermons. I bet many of them take a handsome sum $$$ to "preach" things that soften people up for more war or other government tactics that aren't good or necessary.
