Really? Any reading you could direct me to? I just figured it was just Arthur Morgan, pick up one from the general store along with some coffee and cigarettes.
I read something a year or so ago about judges ruling cases, especially in the south after 1870, in such ways as to be restricting of gun rights for poor people, and especially blacks, atm I do not recall details but I promise I'll check, I should have a book on the issue, and update you once I am more certain.
Edit: So I remembered right, there were particular codes of laws in the former slave states after the civil war that would clarify how newly freed blacks were only second class citizens, said codes were called black codes and they went into detail about gun restrictions too.
Afair especially blacks had it real hard to get guns, correct me if I am wrong.
Indians too

Ok thanks, no need to look up info for me unless you personally want to remember, this is an interesting starting point for me.
The history of gun control in the US is a fascinating topic, nice to see that someone else is getting interested in it.
It itself should be the strongest argument against gun control, due how nefariously it had been implemented previously.
What could possibly make you say that. How absurd.
