we have a ruling class that think they do not have to "Listen". They don't realize that they are representatives of those they are suppose to lead.

Agree--Congress and other elected positions were never meant to be 'careers" and "lifetime appointments."

correct - they were not.

Intent was for them to go to capitol, pass the peoples business, return to your JOB. Their JOB was not to be a congressman. That was just an additional duty to perform in service to community writ large.

where, whn and how ti got all fucked up is up for debate. But it is clear we have a problem with these career asswipes.
