I am ethnically Chinese, so I think I am fully justified in criticizing some of the behaviors I perceive in others who share my background. In my opinion, by far the biggest character flaw among them is the tendency to be stingy and take advantage of others’ generosity. An example of this is that many of them are poor tippers, and it even appears to be a fairly common practice for some not to tip at all.

Another example is the rude and frankly uncouth behavior exhibited by many people who recently immigrated from mainland China. My family is a little different because my mom’s family has been in Taiwan since the late 1700’s, and the current CCP-influenced Chinese culture is completely alien to her. Some examples we have personally witnessed (in Western countries, no less!) include not closing the stall doors when using the bathroom, making a mess of public bathrooms in general, etc. We have confronted them ourselves by yelling at them and scolding them, but the weird part is that even the feeling of humiliation itself seems to be foreign to them. They often go right back to what they were doing after we leave. We are trying our best but it feels like an exercise in futility.
