I read earlier that earmarked funds are making a come-back in Congress' omnibus spending bills.
So I wonder if Graham just made joint deals to get support for the following projects that benefit SC.
(22) CITY OF CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA.—Project for tidal- and inland-related flood risk management, Charleston, South Carolina
(53) Project for flood risk management, Dorchester County, South Carolina.
(54) Project for navigation, Georgetown Harbor, South Carolina.
(55) Project for hurricane and storm damage risk reduction, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
I'd much rather have taxpayer $ fund projects that benefit SC than go to Libya and Sudan at a time like this. But I think there needs to be greater transparency in general from Congress. And I really don't think they should be voting on a bill this massive so soon after the final text is published. It's outrageous.
I'd like it if bills only had one item on it. I don't really give a shit if they need to vote on five hundred different bills, but that 6000 page crap is insane.
Which I'm for thinks that benefit SC too. I was around for the thousand year flood. And I worked to help rebuild Columbia after it. But holy shit is it worth it to sell us out for that? Can't we figure out a way to do these projects without the establishment?
I agree with everything you said. Like Herman Cain suggested, rip up and veto every bill over 3 pages! I guess you would need a paper-shredder for these 5000 page long Debt Bills.
For example, if they're looking at "coronavirus relief" they should have proposed a bill that only covers stimulus payments to Americans who were employed prior to the lock-downs. But I honestly think they should rip that up and compel the states to RE-OPEN so that people can work.
I have complete confidence we could all figure these projects out, and fund them, without the establishment. The problem is too many people are controlled by fear. Too many people put all their faith in the government, rather than in themselves and their neighbors.
I almost regret voting for Graham this year. But I guess he's better than the democratic guy. Dude is seriously making me rethink my choices though.
