$700 million for Sudan, $135 million for Burma, $85.5 million to Cambodia, $1.4 billion for Asia Reassurance, $130 million for Nepal,

What country has sent money abroad in a domestic relief package?

Pure insanity.

^This Exactly. If the money doesn't leave the country, it can't be properly "laundered" and returned to those who voted to send it. The politicians need their Christmas Bonus too!

I’m not opposed to humanitarian aid - theoretically. I actually believe that countries that have been blessed by God ought to help the less fortunate as Christ wants us to.

With that said, our house is on fire right now and these leaders want to give out the water we’re using to put out our flames. We can’t help others when we’re dead in the flames. Once we’ve got our shit handled, we can start to help others.

Also, more often than not these funds aren’t controlled and are just given out to corrupt organizations and never make it to the people to make a difference. If these countries want our help, it needs to be on the condition that we will do so with our people - with close citizen monitoring of how the funds are being utilized. Enough of this bullshit of giving billions to some IMF, World Bank, UN fund organization and only pennies make it to the people to build a water pump.
