First, I doubt this will happen as his wife is shoulders deep in a Chinese shipping company that makes him very wealthy. BUT, if this guy is going to place the country above his own short term self-interests. . .

He's pushed through who knows how many judges for GEOTUS, including Barrett. These moves were politically unpopular yet he did them anyway.

He stood by GEOTUS in the sham impeachment; if he'd wanted him gone he could have pushed for that.

By coming out and stating he won't support any Senators contesting the EC vote on 1/6, he's keeping the heat off all the Senators and focusing it on him, also keeping the usual suspects from harassing said Senators at home, making death threats, etc. and largely keeping this completely legitimate, Constitutional option from being assailed 24/7 from now until the 6th.

Then, on 1/6, he cites the fact that at least 3 of the states in question have clearly violated the Constitution by changing their election laws by means other than the state legislature (PA, GA, WI) and, under no circumstances will ANY electors be counted from those states. Debate happens but Turtle, Cruz and Scott stand strong, refusing to allow the electors from those states to be counted.

Vote goes to House, with each state getting one vote.
