This law was made at a time when some politicians still left office with modest means. Our current politicians figured out that it's much more profitable to just sell out the country and become wealthy in office (or setup Netflix deals for after office). Plus the taxpayer covers their office expenses for life...
Someone calculated out $600 in 1965 = $4,000 to $6,000 today. The last time Nancy Pelosi (Net worth $120m) probably paid attention to her finances was in the 1960's...
Read the annotated laws and see what it is for if it interests you. As to why they get it, I am busy reading other shit in this mess, so this is low priority at the moment.
When we finally get out ofn this shit, we really need to rein in what congress gets anyway. They were never supposed to get the salary or benefits they do. Nor was it supposed to be a career. As to presidents, I can see a pension and their secret service along with free first class mail (letters), but no need for much else. They can damn well foot any other bills they have.
I swear I'm trying to keep my cool, and I've been doing a pretty good job of it until seeing all this shit in this stimulus package. After seeing this stimulus I'm ready to just burn it all to the ground
Yeah their corruption is becoming more and more blatant and brazen. Its like they are trying to push everyday citizens over the edge. Like they are intentionally forcing our hands. Its beyond insulting.
They're doing a really good job of pushing your everyday citizen right now. Testing to see what they can get away with, They're like the small child that does a little more every time until they get the shit slapped out of them, I'm ready to slap the shit out of them
I think its more of a "Yeah we are corrupt. What are you peasants going to do about it?" situation. Just look at Cynthia Johnson's threat. She thought she could openly and blatantly threaten the lives of everyday citizens. Or AOC calling for blacklists of Trump supporters. They are getting ballsy. They think they care untouchable gods.
(a) Each former President shall be entitled for the remainder of his life to receive from the United States a monetary allowance at a rate per annum, payable monthly by the Secretary of the Treasury, which is equal to the annual rate of basic pay, as in effect from time to time, of the head of an executive department, as defined in section 101 of title 5, United States Code [section 101 of Title 5]. However, such allowance shall not be paid for any period during which such former President holds an appointive or elective office or position in or under the Federal Government or the government of the District of Columbia to which is attached a rate of pay other than a nominal rate. 1958 August 11th
Milliionares getting millions while average Americans get less than one thousand. Clown world.
Yeah its almost like they want people to snap.
We are getting very close, just a matter of time.
They are definitely rushing in that era too.
There are only 5 living presidents, and Trump is in office. That means George W. Bush, Barack 0bama, and Jimmy Carter got $1M each??
Either $1 mill each or $4 mill each. Not sure. Regardless, I dont care if they got $1 each. Thats still too much if you ask me.
They shouldn't get a fucking cent
Unless its rolls of quarters put in a sock.
And they get $200k / year pension as well from the day they leave office.
Why are we even paying for that crap? I was already aware of it but it’s bull crap.
because. The laws annotated attached to that allowance explain it. I haven't read them yet, I have higher priorities in reading this shit.

Yeah, this is chump change to them when they are making tens of millions every year by selling their souls to china and other special interests.

Yeah I think a lot of people are getting that belt off and in hand.
Wont disagree
Well nobody wants to read Obama’s 3543 books praising himself, so he needs money from somewhere

Do the 10 day non-vote and if they keep Congress in session then veto on the last minute. Drag it out!
What page is this on?
