Most unfulfilling graduation ever. My school hasn’t even sent out an e-mail or anything congratulating or acknowledging those of us who got through this hellish semester. Almost all my friends are doomer libs who won’t leave their houses (and so is my mom). My dad voted Trump, but he’s in that boat of “life goes on if Biden wins.”
I can’t really articulate what I’m going through. I just completed this major accomplishment, but it’s completely within myself to feel any of the fanfare. I’m just always staring out into space lost in thought. It seems like I’m setting out onto a world that could collapse. My mind is just completely obsessed and preoccupied with the fact I may need to fight for my life soon as if graduation didn’t happen. Well, because it sure feels like graduation didn’t truly happen.
It is just the most bizarre feeling. All year I’ve just been this invisible person it seems. My concerns in general have been ignored and even mocked by many authority figures and people I love (I’m still a closet conservative to many of them). I’m not depressed or anything, but I have no one to process this with. I’m tired of having no voice with so many of my family and friends, and I just wanted to dump this off to people who may understand.

I graduated with a degree in computer science in May, I coudln't go to my gruaduation. I got one email congratulating me, no one seems to care.
Yeah it sucks. I get that the universities have a ton on their plate but I think the fanfare is important. The diploma means more than any of it, of course.
Hire the cap and gown. Have someone take a photo of you with your degree once you have it. Capture the moment anyway. That's what I plan on doing next year when I graduate. No matter what people think about college/university, it is still an achievement. Well done for making it through this horrendous year. You should feel proud. You earned it.

when i graduated loyola i was the same the day before and after. i had nothing. i was single and unattractive. i worked hard and earned the respect of enough people to accomplish alot. work hard, earn respect, you will get it all. i followed that format and now have a loving family and alot. its sad to see so many that want it all for free. i wish you a happy holiday and all the luck thats possible, we make our luck.

I received my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in June. There was an online "graduation" that I did not show up to. It was extremely underwhelming--especially considering that I'm one of the few in my extended family to have a degree at all, let alone the only "doctor" of anything. (I am certainly more of a doctor than Jill Biden will ever be). It sucks, and in some ways I don't even feel like I graduated because the transition was so uneventful, but I am working as PT now.
