Perhaps I’m giving people too much credit for understanding some principles are way better than others.
To release info on a spying program the government continually lies about and being outed and called a traitor for doing so takes balls and is a reasonable principled position based on ethics.
To just release anything someone sends you because you’re crazy and believe in open and transparent data but only if it hurts the West isn’t much of a quality principled position at all. And really there’s no ethics involved there whatsoever.
