Texas and Tennessee are brothers more deeply than most people realize. They are almost the same people. The feds asked if 3k Tennesseans would volunteer to help Texas fight for independence from Mexico, and about 33k Tennesseans volunteered. More Tennesseans died in the Alamo than people from any other state, including Tennessee’s favorite father Davy Crockett. Many of the volunteers settled in Texas, helping seed the population. Strong unspoken tie between those two great states.
