So I know this isn't really directly related to anything going on in America right now, however I don't really have any other platforms to post this on and get the message across so I thought I'd try my luck here and see how many Aussie pedes I could get on to.

For anyone who isn't from here or hasn't been following, we've had a total of 183 cases between December 9-22, and have just had a recent "spike" in the past week if you even want to call it that in the Northern Beaches because a couple didn't quarantine and infected I think the number was around 80 people or so, which is virtually nothing in the grand scheme of things. Over the last day, we've had upwards of 80,000 tests conducted, and only announced 8 cases today. Due to all of this, our State Premier (who is the closest thing in Australia to a State Governor in the US) decided to place restrictions on our state at the beginning of the week after lifting majority of them, "allowing" us to have no more than 10 people over per day. We were told that if they tested a large amount of people and the results looked good, that they would ease the restrictions today in time for Christmas. Well, today comes along and all the news and media are talking about "no new spikes in Sydney" and "cases are low", and we were promised good news from what was to come out of the press conference with our State Premier. Lo and behold, she told us that restrictions were to remain in place until the 27th of December - 2 days after Christmas. She couldn't have made it more obvious that this was a direct attack on Christmas and on families, as we've eased all of our restrictions up until now and were virtually back to normal... UNTIL Christmas came along and suddenly everything began to change again. If you are interested in reading more on the announcement, here it is, but basically, none of it makes sense logically or scientifically, and the worst part about it all is that you can still go shopping with thousands of people and Boxing Day sales will be going ahead as usual.

Anyway, the reason I am posting this here is because if there is absolutely anything I've learnt from everything happening over the past few weeks, it's that all the emails and calls you've all been sending to your state officials is really paying off and pressuring these people really does make a difference. This is what I want Aussie pedes to get on board and do here. We really need to start standing up to our government as you are in America, especially with all the stuff coming out with China and how involved we are and how reliant we are on them. So, I've found a few places where we can email and contact Gladys. I'm not too sure how effective it will be considering there isn't a standard email address you can send to and it's only through web form, but it's a start and with enough people getting on board, this could make the difference.

What we need to do is contact her and any other members of Parliament and let them know how absolutely disgraceful this decision is to restrict us to having only 10 people over for the biggest celebration of the year, a time where all families look forward to getting together and spending time together. We need to really put the pressure on her to revisit the restrictions before Christmas Day, and to let her know that she's lost our vote. They want to scare us with bullshit restrictions? Let's scare them by showing off our ability to still have a say in determining whether or not they get elected (while we still have it).

Please, if you are from Australia and are equally as disgusted and angry with the restrictions over Christmas as I am, then get into contact with Gladys and any other local members of Parliament and let them know what a horrible job they are doing and letting them know we are well aware that this is a direct attack on the celebration of Christmas and on the family structure as we know it. GET THE WORD OUT!
