There's definitely something off about this guy. He keeps saying all kinds of crazy shit with absolutely zero verification. I don't know what to believe about him, because nobody is calling him out as a bullshitter, despite his crazy claims.

Having said that... are you retarded? Have you not heard of a smart thermometer before? It's not technologically impractical at all. It's quite common for thermostats to hook up to the internet these days. Landlords install them to keep track of heating costs or control them. There's even been lawsuits about it.

No i'm not retarded, retard. I just understand how many of these things work. You can connect the damn thing to your network... but without a internet connection you can't control them or enable outside communication into the network. That is my point. Nobody cares if this thing was inside and connected to the network. If there is no external connectivity, there is no connectivity to provide an attack vector.

If something has wireless network capabilities, people can access it remotely. This is not rocket science.

Not exactly. While the probability is higher, it doesnt guarantee access. And you are right, its not rocket science, but all we have now is speculation and we don't know enough about the network configuration or capabilities to validate the claim.
