He is saying a man can not be bought. You can not appreciate your life/livelihood if it cost you nothing. A man wants to, and does, grind his balls off everyday to live for himself and family.
At this point in history, your government sees your hardwork, takes 30%+ of it, and gives it to however the fuck they want. It goes to themselves, their masters, trade partners, "American" corporations, etc. Now they say, "Okay peasant, we realize we have you pretty geeked up right now. Take $2k back and just be chill for another 6 months, please?"

"But but taxes fund the military that protects us from the cave dwellers in the desert!" Keep kneeling then. You have been brainwashed for 70 fucking years by the conservatives/liberals/everyone to see this as "free money" and not YOUR money.
