OK, so we are talking about the U2, a very old and obsolete plane still being used, much like NASA still flying their English Electric / Martin Canberra's - WB-57F.
To my mind, great as it is these old birds are still in use, it shows what a complete failure in planning and congress to make provision for a more up-to-date solution to these planes.
They are both very expensive to maintain, parts are now almost impossible to get a sensible money, yet they are the only planes left to do the job, at considerable risk to the pilots etc.
FFS the money congress spunks up the wall for pissing on rats etc would have paid for their replacements.
Very cool... then the Spitfire was next!
