Holy fuck. 4 million voters have no voting age relatives or even strangers with the same surname?

I have a very rare surname. I have a brother and a sister, one uncle and a grandfather still alive.

My wife and 4 kids have a different name than I do, and my sister took her husbands. I still have 5 relatives with the same surname. There are at least 10 of us in my country with my surname, the rest I don't know.

How the fuck you manage to get 4 million individuals with no duplicate surnames is beyond me. Are they names or serial numbers?

How does one person hold two surnames, let alone 6M?

You misunderstand. He says that 65% of all surnames, around 4 million surnames, are used by just one person in the entire USA.

That means 4 million people with completely unique surnames (no one else in the entire USA with the same surname).

I think he's saying that 6m different individual hold unique surnames not shared by any other living person.

I never thought about this......Make sense they would pad the census to get more money and representatives.

Could be a huge scandal in the making.

Confusing.

Wish he had actual data to show

A couple things I do not understand about this post:

  • 2020 Census records are not publicly available in raw form.

  • Each record is for one person, with one Last Name field, so one person cannot hold 4M surnames.

Can someone point me to information that would resolve this?

2000 census, not 2020
