Won't happen any time soon. Most South Koreans are against reunification. However, I can definitely see a peace treaty coming, but probably not as long as there's a left winger in the Blue House (Korean presidential residence). Moon Jae In is a fucking moron and is busy destroying South Korea. Even though he's pro North Korea/Communism, the North Koreans are not pro him. That being said, Trump could strong arm him into accepting a peace treaty of Trump's making, and that would get the ball rolling. The two countries would likely stay separated for a generation while economic, social, and political connections are slowly made.
Of course, if we go to war with China and can somehow convince the North Koreans to back our play (perhaps in exchange for getting the Korean Autonomous Zones in northern China), then we may see a more rapid unification.

My mother was a Korean immigrant. If it happens I will finally be able to scatter her ashes at home.
