You are correct. This could be misdirection. Mark Meadows and his wife stood by candidate Trump during the 2016 Billy Bush debacle. They were physically campaigning with Donald Trump when this broke. I remember President Trump at a rally in 2020 speaking of Mark's wife being all fired up for candidate Trump and telling people it was a lie.
