Not all of America. I've traveled, by car, across multiple states and have seen the differences between those who live in the cities and those who live in the less populated areas. What you describe exists in the cities, mainly Democrat controlled cities. Your description also fits many of the younger generations.
The above video takes a caller from Minneapolis. I'm from Minnesota, and was recruited into the military out of Minneapolis... When MEPS was still outside of military posts. I have friends, from Minnesota, who actually praised "Democratic Socialism" and supported Bernie Sanders.
I've debated with these individuals on Facebook. Yes, they've fallen for propaganda hook, line, and sinker. It's mainly because they like the "ego rush" of information that supports their emotion based opinions. Many of them don't like doing their own research. These are many of the same people that did not care to learn History, or took it seriously when we had to take it. They also didn't take government or civics seriously.
However, they don't represent the Americans that I've came across outside of the heavily populated areas.
What I see happening are counties across the nation declaring themselves constitutional sanctuaries. They won't enforce or respect state or federal laws that violate the constitution. States with enough of these counties in them, who have Republican governors and legislatures, could feasibly follow this path.
This would just be the first step.
There aren't enough people in the US Military to effectively have martial law in the United States. Not everyone in the military, let alone in the USMC and Army, is combat arms... The folk you'll need to enforce martial law. The rest of combat arms, and the military, are spread out throughout the world and are in different "training to deployment" cycles.
The difference between those living in the urban areas, and those living in "flyover country" is like night and day.
