Fortunately POTUS understands the "rules" of this "game". If he'd " vetoed it on Christmas" the Act would have been passed; the veto would have been irrelevant. Today was the last day POTUS had left to veto the NDAA which sends it back to Congress. To over ride the veto requires 2/3 of the House and 2/3 of the Senate. Historically only 7% of presidential vetoes have been over ridden. Alternatively, Congress can choose to take out the non military funding issues POTUS they inserted. POTUS formally notified them which inserts need to be removed and what needs to be included to ensure his signature. The balls in their court and people are watching what they choose to do.
