VP is defendant. Based Amistad Project sued yesterday fighting for elector powers being trampled by Dem governors and traitor RINOS:

Lawsuit calls for allowing 5 states' legislatures to certify electors before congressional count

VP PENCE IS A DEFENDANT IN THIS SUIT - not a Plaintiff

Sweeping_Salt_028 19 points ago +19 / -0

FYI our Based Electoral Volt Merchant is a defendant.

“Electoral Volt”, I see what you did there

Ummm.....

Plaintiffs, v. VICE PRESIDENT MICHAEL RICHARD PENCE bla bla bla

Defendants.

Huck_Farris 10 points ago +10 / -0

Interesting twist. Assuming not LARP, Pence is the defendant here. Anyone got popcorn?

Numpties 9 points ago +9 / -0

YOU ALL NEED TO READ AND INTERPRET THIS CORRECTLY

I don't have time right now. Pence is defendant in his role as VP, case is brought by Thomas More society. I skimmed the first few pages.

LOOKS POSITIVE TO ME

PENCE et al. ARE BEING SUED BY THE GOOD GUYS TO DO THE RIGHT THING

9
TheNoxPirate 9 points ago +12 / -3

UMMM holy shit???

9
RC22 9 points ago +9 / -0

Hopefully it is one case Pence would love to lose ? looks like a mess of voters rights are filing suit against Pence and the rest of the Government for letting all these states violate the equal protection act?

3
ISTApackagingguy 3 points ago +3 / -0

Do you think he knew about it beforehand? I know none of us can answer that question, just want to know what you think. However if he loses this case then his challenging the electors would not seem partisan and would make a nice "out" (that is the reason for my question to you).

2
RC22 2 points ago +2 / -0

Interesting thought. I don't understand his being a defendant in this in the first place, Kemp and the rest make sense. Someone more enlightened than me would have to answer that Q. I am just a humble friar

2
ISTApackagingguy 2 points ago +2 / -0

Attorneys, when they sue, throw everyone possibly involved in the mix. My mom got in this situation when a bar sued everyone on city council. Pence probably is not the main target, but IMHO gives him a legitimate reason for allowing objections to the slate of electors.

1
shaven_llama 1 point ago +1 / -0

I would be shocked, if he did not know this was coming.

2
ISTApackagingguy 2 points ago +2 / -0

It would be a bit ridiculous that a legal team working on behalf of Trump did not tell his team this was coming to allow Pence to look impartial and nonpartisan.

3
Huck_Farris 3 points ago +3 / -0

That's what I suspect. OK, hope for.

2
RC22 2 points ago +2 / -0

that is what it reads like i skimmed it a little

1
KitKatCat 1 point ago +1 / -0

that's what it sounds like to me too but I only skimmed. Lets just hope they have standing...

We The People

6

Pence is a defendant

1
amERICanRA 1 point ago +3 / -2

Pence in his capacity as Vice President is a defendant. That is a GOOD thing, law pedes????

6
Huck_Farris 6 points ago +6 / -0

By my non-lawyer assessment, yes. In obama days, EPA did it all the time, IIRC: get sued by a friendly environmental group, decline to defend a suit, and enter a consent decree to do things that it otherwise can not do.

-1
Schiffblower -1 points ago +1 / -2

why is everything construed in some kind of light that it isn’t?

4
amERICanRA 4 points ago +4 / -0

First off, username checks out. Second, We The People have limited reliable information, so we talk about it with eachother to figure out what is going on. Nobody really knows including you and me.

4
HarryxD 4 points ago +4 / -0

The suit is basically suing the electoral college and Mike Pence to stop them from counting the electoral votes and to issue a judgement against key states for not following legal certification procedure.

Pence is defendant. I'm not a law guy, but the Amistad Project is trying hard for Trump. This doesn't make any sense to me, but I'm sure its a good thing.

4
crazyjackel 4 points ago +4 / -0

Sue to force pence to do something in his power and sets a precedent.

1
Huck_Farris 1 point ago +1 / -0

Probably is.

3
Numpties 3 points ago +3 / -0

YOU ALL NEED TO READ AND INTERPRET THIS

LOOKS POSITIVE TO ME - Pence being sued to do the right thing.

4
ISTApackagingguy 4 points ago +4 / -0

As I asked before could this be a way to deny electors from contested states without making it seem blatantly partisan? It is not like the Amistad Project is an unknown group.

1
KitKatCat 1 point ago +1 / -0

My question is will this case even go anywhere. I can see a judge saying they dont have standing and throwing it out at this point.

1
ISTApackagingguy 1 point ago +1 / -0

Pence is a defendant. If the judge is corrupted he may be too blinded by ideology to see the game. Smart people can do stupid things when indoctrinated by a (leftist) cult. Let's hope they get such a judge.

1
KitKatCat 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yeah, its just its hard to be excited for this. So where does this case start? Does it go straight scotus?

1
Numpties 1 point ago +1 / -0

I believe it is.

3
KitKatCat 3 points ago +3 / -0

Um pence is the one being sued...This is interesting. Could a lawyer peep explain this to us please!

6
Huck_Farris 6 points ago +6 / -0

As I said above, I am not a lawyer, but I seem to recall precedent from obama era.

Environmental groups: EPA, do this! EPA: Can't. No authority. Sue us. wink wink Environmental Groups: Understood, suing. EPA: You know what, we won't defend. You win. Sad. wink

2
One-Man_Riot 2 points ago +2 / -0

A most concise explanation. Thank you.

1
shaven_llama 1 point ago +1 / -0

He naturally would be a defendant, given his official role in the EC process.

3
MemeWarsVet 3 points ago +4 / -1

"Oh, gee. Being sued! Guess I better throw out those contested states on the 6th!"

3
jujufumpkins 3 points ago +3 / -0

This is a good thing. One pede mentioned the "friendly lawsuit" theory, and I agree. Otherwise, why would Ligon and Mursau be plaintiffs? Ligon is pushing hard to overturn the Georgia votes. This may be an indirect route to the PenceCard.

2
SSConservativePride 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yes Pence is a defendant but that's not a bad thing. Basically the actual plaintiffs say if Pence were to count the electoral votes from the executive branch of AZ, PA, MI, GA, and MI he would be in trouble because they not only came from the wrong branch of Government but also violated just plain crap ton of rules, you can read the whole document its 116 pages long. I read it its a crap ton of in my opinion valid complaints.

Standing... maybe he has it?

1
RainingFrogs 1 point ago +1 / -0

I didn't read it, but it looks baseless. No evidence.

Spelling looks good, though.

1
shaven_llama 1 point ago +1 / -0

Evidence of what? It's arguing mostly constitutional issues. It's actually not too dissimilar to the Texas case in what it's arguing.

Looked at it with my liberal goggles on.

1
One-Man_Riot 1 point ago +1 / -0

What does this mean?

1
jimboscott 1 point ago +2 / -1

It means PENCE is being sued. NOT that PENCE is initiating the suit.

Just our side being stupid and not knowing who is who when it comes to defendant and plaintiff.

No he didnt

This kind of unforced error is pathetic.

4
Huck_Farris 4 points ago +4 / -0

It is not an error.

4
ISTApackagingguy 4 points ago +4 / -0

I don't think it is. The Amistad Project would not do so much work for Trump and then piss it all away. Someone in the administration had to have known this was coming, maybe welcoming it.

2
Huck_Farris 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yep, that's what I suspect.

4
SteveSanchez80 4 points ago +4 / -0

Amistad project is VERY SMART. They are suing the VP and all the states and if they win it provides perfect cover for Pence to ignore the electors from the states affected without having to be on his own island, which we all know anyone but Trump is no guarantee.

2
One-Man_Riot 2 points ago +2 / -0

Gotta be. Makes no sense otherwise.

2
TearsMakeTheBestAmmo 2 points ago +2 / -0

Re-read the thread. Need lawyer pedes in here, but it looks like Pence is being sued to do the right thing regarding the vote.

We will have to wait and see if the Left jumps to Pence's defense here.
