Hi there like minded pedes, im a trump loving dual citizen currently living in canada but our country is going to shit RAPIDLY and I am looking to relocate. Was wondering if anyone cared to share some amazing hidden gem cities in red states that would welcome a new patriot to the mix.

Currently Florida is leading the way because of favourable taxes, ron desantis and warm weather, but would consider any location North or South. Love to ski, so if it is going to be not Florida or Texas I would love to be near-ish to a half decent slope!

I've been a based trump supporter since the beginning, and let me tell you the situation up here is growing more hopeless by the day, our conservatives have no backbone at all. I cannot stand the lockdowns and corona hoax for one more minute.

Really appreciate everyone here and your amazing memes/knowledge and love for freedom!

I'm in Florida on the Gulf coast, the only complaints I have are crappy drivers with out of state plates, and sky high real estate, but what can you expect for lovely weather year round. I have even grown to have a special place in my heart for Florida man, simply because the stories tend to make me feel better about myself.

Property values in canada are insane across the board, so i am positive i would be upgrading pretty much anywhere except bay area or new york, and those places are cancer.

Any hidden florida gems in your opinion? Ive been to and loved Sarasota, but the weather for a Canadian easily wins us over. I dont need to be anywhere trendy.

Indeed, I live in lovely Sarasota, and the Siesta key beach has sand like sugar, it's rated one of the best in the world, we also have the Ringling museum, mansion, and art school, of the Ringling circus fame. It's not a massive city, but it's low crime and very clean. We have the Van weasel theater, which we locals call the big purple cow, and various other art and entertainment venues, like small opera house , and Mccurdys comedy club that has drag queen bingo once a month, and various other stand up comedians year round. There's a lot more, but it definitely a small town atmosphere inside of a city.

Probably would avoid drag queen bingo but love the positive sarasota review! Was there years ago and couldn't believe the feel of the sand. Incredible. Would probably play a lot of golf and raise a nice big family 👍🏻

If you are going to move to New England then New Hampshire is the only tolerable state. Maine is incredibly badly run and has absolutely ridiculous taxes, MA, RI, VM and Connecticut are liberal shitholes and should be avoided at any cost. It's a shame about maine because its great other than its basketcase state government. Back on NH the Coastal area there has a lot going on, Portsmouth is a cool city but its rapidly becoming the Portland of the NE from all the yuppies and hipsters moving there from boston. Exeter is also very cool and the Hamptons are good if you want that whole New England fishing village aesthetic along the coast.

Florida is great ( I am actually moving back down next week after temporarily working in Illinois because of covid bullshit) but be wary that the cost of living in south florida is incredibly high at the moment because the real estate bubble there is so extreme. Its not Socal bad or anything but the prices are still nuts. My parents house appreciated like 200 thousand dollars in four years in Martin county which is the basically the last area that you would really consider south florida before hitting the space coast. If you go to Central or the Pan handle or even Jacksonville things are much better. Also St Augstine is really nice if you are looking for somewhere that's more matured and laid back. It's the actually the oldest city in north america and has a cool spanish fort from the 1500s. Stuart florida is nice if you want to still be near all the south florida nonsense but want to be out of it. The county its in is a little snowbird heavy though. Right north of Orlando there is this rolling hills farm country thats full of horse farms and its very pretty. I can't really speak much for the pan handle or Tampa area as ive never been there but ive been told Sarasota is really laid back and nice.

It really sucks because there is plenty of areas I have lived in or have been to that i like but they are attached to a state with some giant city that corrupts the state government. I love Western PA for instance but Philis population just completely dominates the states races and causes stupid shit to be enforced on the rest. Same goes for the Shenandoah Valley region of VA except its NoVa (northern VA) and Richmond (which by the way is one of the biggest shitholes in the country)

Really appreciate the time you took to write that out and your amazing knowledge of all around the country! I feel like I have had my partying days, they were fun, but the idea of somewhere laid back and lower cost of living is very appealing. I feel like Americans should check out the property values in Ontario, GTA especially. You will be shocked. Canadians are the most indebted people in the world, we never had our property values correct like you guys did and immigration is never ending.

Would be arriving with a nice surplus as our current property value seems to never stop climbing despite the increasingly desperate situation.

Yea i have a friend who Lives in Toronto so i have heard how expensive it is, its like the 3rd most expensive city in NA or something absurd like that and considering how outrageous at least ten cities i know of in the USA are its pretty incredible to beat them out.

As for living in quiet places thats always been my MO even as a kid, I am not misanthropic at all but i need my space and peace so I absolutely hate living in densely populated areas.

How are the politics trending? MO is always an interesting option and these days I could appreciate more space, wouldn't mind being a short drive to a more populated centre with some stuff and access.

If you mean in Missouri i would assume red but i have never been there, i was using MO as in Motus Operandi. As for New Hampshire its strange because its simultaneously getting redder from people who already live there but also has a ton of Massholes moving there who bring their politics with them. The population over doubled from 2000-2020 and most of those numbers were out of the staters moving in. Currently as far as i am aware almost the entire state is republican controlled but they are mostly the more Rino or Libertarian types.

Florida is definitely trending redder, its a populist red as well. The democrats there are basically concentrated in 4-5 counties which have all gotten more red over the last four years (not dramatically but noticeably) and the rest of the state is solidly conservative. I think the whole Andrew Gillum thing has basically broken the democratic party down there. They shilled him so hard in 2018 and basically tried to rig the election with ballot stuffing in Broward county but it was stopped before it could change the outcome of any statewide elections. They were literally finding box after box of 99.99% democrat ballots for hours after every other county was reporting before Rick Scott the outgoing governor basically put his foot down and ended it. Later Gillum was caught smoking crack with a multiple gay prostitutes after trying to sell this bullshit family man image and he even had Obama campaign for him. So after such a narrow victory to someone who later turned out to be absolutely despicable and the person who won, being DeSantis actually turning out to be incredibly popular (he is in the high 60s approval rating last time i checked which is insane for how polarized american politics are at the moment) there isn't much steam left in their platform. I suspect DeSantis will win relection in 2022 in an absolute blowout. I had absolutely zero doubt trump was going to win there in the 2020 election, it wasn't even a concern.

Haha I thought you meant Montana. But I love that news about Florida, and feel the same way from following close. Would love to be in warmth all year round and play lots of golf, go to the beach, and not pay income tax!

Already looking at a few spots, seems like people are saying south dakota and florida but new hampshire is an interesting choice being close(ish) to my canadian side and East coast skiing.

Really appreciate the responses!

As a floridian, the state I would consider is maybe south Dakota. I do love it here but I would love to be in an open carry state as well haha

JustinSonOfFidel [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

Thanks for the advice, South Dakota was basically number two on my mental list. Best town city in your opinion?

2
Floridius 2 points ago +2 / -0

I heard Pierre was really nice in South Dakota but I've never been. My favorite place in FL is st. Augustine. Most history but not a huge city! very beautiful

Ill back up the St augustine claim. It's like an Old New England town but in Florida but with a really cool downtown tourist area thats still local friendly. If my entire family didn't live in South Florida it would be my #1 choice when i move back down there next week.

Amazing.... thanks so much for the suggestion.

Did you guys know 89% of canada is owned by the British Crown? Canada is a complete fraud, a poser "free nation", anything but. Dominion voting is based in Toronto, and the people are absolutely brain washed.

Its really tough.

Check out section 1 of the canadian charter of rights if you really want a depressing laugh...

I'm in southern MN, red country stuck in a blue state (because of the twin cities), I would suggest South Dakota, low taxes, lots of room, still get all 4 seasons, and a great governor, just my opinion.

JustinSonOfFidel [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

Thats two for south dakota. Seems like I should give it a serious look. Unfortunately MN seems like its been demographically changed for good, the veritas omar stuff made me feel ill tbh.

South Dakota

JustinSonOfFidel [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

Particular town?

2
Red37 2 points ago +2 / -0

You basically have two choices. Rapid City (about an hour away from Mt. Rushmore) or Sioux Falls. Sioux Falls is larger and is a relatively liberal college town. Rapid City is a bit smaller but is more conservative. Sioux Falls is right on the boarder of Minnesota.

The western side of the state (near rapid city) has nicer weather. It can still get cold but like -10F instead of -20F. This year has been particularly nice so far with weather in the 40s for the most part and little snow. One October we had enough snow in one day I couldn’t leave my office because the snow was physically making it impossible to open the doors. Weather is extremely swingy in South Dakota.

There are some small towns throughout the state but those are the only real cities. Mitchell is a smaller town in the middle of the state, it’s a college town as well.

Edit: I guess there is also Pierre, which is the Capitol; but I didn’t even think of it as a place because I have so little interaction with it in 7 years living here.

Thanks for the advice, and snow is something we are extremely accustomed to, and extreme cold. No problems with that. Any good skiing west of Rapid City?

I’m not the best person to ask as I’m not a skier

I get what your saying, but I was born there and removed from the country when I had no say in the matter. I can tell you, I feel like an American trapped in Canada.

1
JustinSonOfFidel [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

Pretty sure Ted Cruz is in a similar situation!

JustinSonOfFidel [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

I know some people are reluctant to say if they have something good, I get that, but I promise I equally don't want liberal hoards to invade- thats what I am escaping!

If you really dont want to say outloud, consider a DM ;)
