They only went after him because he supported Trump. If he was a democrat like all the others they didn't prosecute they wouldn't have done anything to him.
More importantly, they're not felons and won't have it on their record. They can be hired into government positions too. That's why Flynn's pardon is so important. He's far from being retired.

Commuted means he had has time erased but he was still guilty. Pardoned means they did nothing wrong and it's not held against them.

That’s not what a pardon means. By accepting a pardon they are acknowledging they did the crime. But they don’t have to be a felon.
