This is interesting, the MMR vaccine has been mandatory for a long time, but that would explain why younger people weren't getting severe symptoms, I believe it's been a requirement for a school aged child to have that to attend public school in north America since at least the 80's.

You are correct. All four of my children had to get it. The first one in 1984.

Measles vaccines became available in 1963. If you got the standard two doses of the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine after 1967, you should be protected against the measles for life. Most people born before 1957 are thought to have been infected naturally with the virus through measles outbreaks.Feb 8, 2019
