I bet the hack was done by the white hacks, collecting all the info needed for the upcoming reveal

Wow that would be great but surprising. It's already being used to screw the President.

Is there any evidence the Russians were behind it? I've been really busy lately with Christmas stuff, so I'm not following things too closely. My initial thought was China did it though.

Pompeo was briefed and so Trump but they disagree. Pompeo says it seems clear. SEEMS clear. Yeah. Here's the problem when you hear Russian hack:

  1. This is not the first time that the CIA/NSA hack into a system, leave some Russian language tools on it and then hope that the investigators will blame Russia. CIA are criminals. They steal the identity of a foreign nation. This is dangerous and obviously has military implications. This is the closest to Nazi propaganda I've seen coming from them (when Hitler attacked his own radio station with German soldiers disguised as Polish soldiers to kickstart the war).

  2. To determine the source of a hacking, you have to leave your computer and have boots on the ground, identifying the spot and the individuals that planned it. Or else this is just garbage accusation throwing where anybody in the world can insert Russian messages or traces and then point the finger at Russia.

Maybe the intel agencies wanted to test the federal government network for weaknesses and called it a Russian hack to score political points. Two birds one stone. Pretty illegal though.

Their explanation for it is bullshit no doubt, but the hack itself did happen. I work in a fed agency and got an email saying we were one of the ones breached and our security measures have been heightened as a result (not that that means much in government where people are stupid enough to literally set passwords akin to "password123" to access sensitive info 🙄). People are saying CIA, CCP, etc, they're all the same thing anyway.

All of this indicates a test by our own government to reinforce security of the network. They called it a Russian hack to score political points. To pass NDAA. This part is probably illegal.
