Bernie was and always has been a tool to drive youth voting and nothing else. He was used to generate excitement on the left amongst young people and then send that support to the party approved candidates in exchange for a bag of cash. He was never a real threat to anyone.

It’s in the human geno - exaggerations of childhood drama to peak attention... then as we grow older and realize - holy shit, I have to do this human thing by myself, no one there to do it for me - redpill is the beer toxin that sets you free from victim enslavement.
Well the "why" for me comes from the fact that I realized that a lot of the things that I wanted when I was still a Berniebro, was fulfilled by Trump. He helped the middle class and improved the economy. He's spitting out peace deals. And he did it without needing to resort to like full on socialism too.
I wouldn't say that my values really changed. It's mainstream leftism itself that changed and become further and further left. Trump winning in 2016 just made the left's masks fall off. Believe it or not, the full on communism destroy capitalism Antifa types were not super common among the Bernie groups I was in back in 2016, and nobody really took them seriously. Now they're basically the norm.
