It might turn off some potential users, but there is another demographic that might see such posts and feel like this is a fun place to be. I know we’re all feeling very serious right now, but not everybody in every moment is hungry exclusively for a new super serious post.
Just saying - I’d put my faith in the upvote system to filter whatever comes on this system in such a way that it pleases the most number of users. Just like how we trust the hidden hand of capitalism to give us what we need as effectively as possible. Obviously with exceptions like astroturfing etc.
