I'm not advocating against memes. I'm advocating against a childish character, and indifference to Godly morals. Memes can condense profound truths very simply and quickly. Some of them are really great. But if this is serious times, it's time to be serious about the noble cause you potentially give your life to. Frankly, I believe if we were, collectively, as gentlemanly as our Founding Fathers, we'd have won over enough democrats to not even be in this situation. I'm not calling anyone out here, but think of how history looks upon the past. Honor is given to the honorable. So, do not be cynical. Don't be ones who say "the victorious are the authors of history." Such is a faithless statement, because a man receives nothing unless it comes from Heaven.

KGB82 Not sure why I came back in here, but I've re-read this thread and I'll just say it's a catalyst for reflection. I believe I comprehend your thesis better now then I did a few hours ago. Passion is the likely cause of my earlier sharp engagement. It is not often that a "post" leaves me with enduring thought provoking questions, but this one has. I do not subscribe to all of your assertions as they are written. However, I do believe you have a valid viewpoint. I'll leave you with this thought. It is my own thought.

I care not how history, or any man judges me. I care only that my children and grand children have the "opportunity" to live free and die free. I will do whatever I must to advance that vision. My "moral character" is not a reflection of my "fleeting behavior", but of my "core values". Which is why I believe they say, do not judge a book by it's cover.

I'm glad to hear that. It's not a call to be passive, like some seem to take it, and it's not an order to be righteous. It's a recommendation. I understand the Founders weren't perfect angels, but I do think they were decent and honorable, even unto death. I really think this stuff matters, and we do better to be less reactionary and really look at the meaning of our convictions - what tells us the other side is wrong, and why we are right. And frankly, this is the thing that locks people into the fight. A person with a joking demeanor is giving themselves an "out" to walk away when things get actually difficult. I kind of look at morality like it's a science, and I think it's a mistake for us now on the right to think we are head and shoulders better than liberals. Now, don't get me wrong, the liberal ideology has no future, but that alone doesn't make us right or our politics the default path of least resistance to a Fate that will yield liberty and equality. We have to govern our minds. All this puerile stuff, raunchy mockery, making pinups of wives, etc, has no place with winners. I don't care if the Founders were drinkers and had the occasional romp, they treated women with utmost integrity, especially wives, and they held and maintained a high sense of honor, even in the heat of whatever contest. It's all about the Golden rule, I think. It doesn't mean you have to agree with your opponent, but to put yourself in their shoes. There's a time we all were very wrong about something, and we all know crass mockery served nothing but the pride of those who did it.
